Bringing Your New Kitten Home It is nice to have a sturdy plastic carrier designed for pets. They
can be purchased for a reasonable price at any pet or discount store, but if you think you might want to ship the cat by air, sturdier
carriers, such as Vari Kennel might be better. .
We require that a veterinarian check the kitten within 7 days of pick up,so it is a good idea to
schedule the appointment before you pick the kitten up.Scheduling the appointment on the way home will eliminate the stress
of having to make a seperate trip out later. Please coordinate a vaccine schedule with your vet. Most breeders recommend that
you have a blood test done to check for feline leukemia and AIDS so that you can be assured that the kitten is healthy when
you get it.Our state does require a rabies vaccination ,but this is generally not given till 6 months of age.You should plan
on having an annual exam for your cat to make sure routine shots are administered and assure the future health of your cat.We
reccomend that you alter your cat as soon as your vet will allow to preclude the cat's initiating undesirable behavior associated
with sexual maturity.
You should plan to keep the kitten away from other animals for a while to make sure the stress
doesn't cause it to break with a virus,at least until it has been checked by a vet and has settled in.Litter box should be
kept close to deter accidents. Please have a suitable litter box easy to access in a quiet place, please keep your litter box
clean scrubed out once a week with a bleach based cleaner, many cats will refuse to use a dirty box.
We recommend a high quality dry kitten food Iams or Eukanuba, Science Diet, or Purina One.
A long hair cat should be groomed often ,a comb and undercoat rake ,with grooming spray are musts!Cats
groomed frequently learn to love it and it can be a great bonding experience and lots of fun for both cat & human.
A sisal /hemp wrapped scratching post is nice to have rub it with cat nip to encourage scratching
in the right place.
Cat Dancer is my favorite cat toy and Salty ,Samauri,Fufu,& Puffs
Enjoy your kitten, stay in touch we would love to get photos! Thank you Sherry Flack

Due to the heartbreaking emails I have recieved from people who have lost their cats and kittens from PKD , I am urging
you to buy from breeders, catteries, or hobby breeders who have DNA tested for PKD, the ultrasound test for PKD has been inconsistent
in its results as the DNA test is almost foolproof. There are many people breeding positive cats that produce 50%-or more positive
kittens per litter. Please educate yourself before buying and supporting kitten mills.
